Ideal Tasmanian Wedding Locations

Tasmania is home to many beautiful locations that are perfect for a winter wedding – from snowy mountaintops to rugged coastal cliffs. Read on to find out more about some of the best locations.

Cradle Mountain
Cradle Mountain is one of the most popular wedding locations in Tasmania, offering spectacular views of nature. Snow-capped peaks, pristine lakes, ancient forests, and abundant wildlife are here. The national park is located in the central highlands and is famous for its spectacular scenery.

Freycinet National Park
Freycinet National Park is another stunning location. Its crystal-clear waters, secluded beaches, and granite mountains provide a romantic setting for gatherings both large and intimate. The park is located on the east coast of Tasmania and is home to some of the state’s most beautiful beaches, including Wineglass Bay and Honeymoon Bay.

Mount Wellington
If you’re looking for a wedding location that offers breathtaking views of Hobart and the surrounding countryside, look no further than Mount Wellington. The summit offers panoramic views of the city, the Derwent River, and the Tasmanian wilderness, making it a highly popular choice for weddings and elopements.

Bay of Fires
The Bay of Fires is a stunning stretch of coastline on the northeast of Tasmania, renowned for its crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, and orange-hued granite rocks. There are several unique wedding venues, which include beachside resorts and private lodges, with something for every taste and budget.

Sightseeing and Things to Do

Dark Mofo
Tasmania’s midwinter festival celebrates the dark with larger than life art, food, fire, light music and noise in unique spots throughout Hobart. If you are heading to the Apple Isle in winter this is one not to be missed.

Mount Wellington
Beautiful at any time of the year Mount Wellington is generally below zero degrees during Tassie’s winter and you are bound to get to see the snow. Hobart is built under this mountain and there are beautiful views of and from the mountain. It’s just a short drive away from the city and there’s many great eats nearby.

Experience the Snow
Mount Wellington is by far the best and easiest spot to see snow but there are plenty of other options.  At Cradle Mountain, Ben Lomand National Park, Mt Field, Hartz Peak and The Central Highlands you can expect to see icy lakes, snow covered trees, and snow capped mountains. All are sublimely beautiful. We recommend checking the snow forecast just before you head out. There are many tour options and of course the joy of playing in the snow is completely free!

If you are getting married in Tasmania, or eloping, the winter can be a wonderful and unforgettable experience that allows couples to celebrate their love in a unique and intimate way. With its stunning scenery, cosy accommodation options, and delicious gourmet food and wines there is a host of things to see and do.
