Tahlia + Rohan
Bride Tahlia’s wedding story had us here at Isle Weddings in giggles from her very first sentence and kept us enthralled to the very end. Isle Weddings is delighted to introduce the gorgeous, albeit a little cheeky, Tahlia and Rohan.
When bride Tahlia told us about first meeting her husband, Rohan, her response earned her a spot on the Isle Weddings ‘Hall of Famous Quotes’! “Rohan sent me a drunk message on Australia Day in 2014, "Bang?" I thought he was an absolute tool, super arrogant but funny, so I chatted with him for a while. Over the next few days, we continued chatting and realised we had a lot in common,” said Tahlia.
We can only assume Rohan's one-worded dialogues must have shown some improvement because Tahlia eventually agreed to a first date with him. Tahlia and Rohan’s first date was at Bluff beach in Devonport, Tasmania. Located on the north coast, Devonport is where the Mersey River meets the Bass Strait. “We spent the whole day together, and both still remember how sunburnt I was! Fast forward a few years and we had both graduated from university, secured permanent jobs and moved into our beautiful, new home. No, we didn't kill each other during the building phase! In 2020, despite a year of heartache for so many, Rohan managed to take me away on a surprise trip to Freycinet.”
Located on the East Coast of Tasmania, Freycinet National Park is renowned worldwide for its crystal clear water, sandy beaches, sheltered bays and breathtaking views. (You did good, Rohan! ;) “On our private beach, he proposed to me and of course, I said yes.” explained Tahlia.
Arranging the wedding came naturally to Tahlia and Rohan. “The planning process for us was easy! Nothing was a stress, and we actually enjoyed most of it. We locked in our non-negotiable first - Kristy L Photography. From there, we worked around the photographer and the date we chose.
We booked the beautiful barn at Mt Gnomon farm in Penguin, which at the time was just a skeleton, but we could see the potential. We hired Found In Earth Florist for our major floral arrangements, and then my beautiful mother-in-law made all the table arrangements.” She also described how her Pop built a beautiful archway for the ceremony. “The arch turned into the key photo spot..." said the Bride.
“We tried to use a lot of Tassie businesses where possible, such as Silver Belle Designs for our signage. We also sourced my dress, bridesmaids dresses and the boys' suits locally. Rohan had a clear vision of the style he wanted to wear, and my dress was a one-shot wonder - absolutely perfect. When it all came together in the photos, we couldn't have been happier with the colours.”
“I enjoyed the whole day because I had the world's most relaxed, amazing bridesmaids, so even the morning was lots of fun, and nothing was stressful at all. Poor Rohan could barely eat all day. Meanwhile, I had almost a whole pizza for lunch. We both loved seeing each other for the first time and couldn't believe how emotional we both were. I remember our celebrant joking about how bad hayfever was this year, which was nice to make us laugh and relax. Despite it raining all afternoon, we still snuck out to the orchard to get some photos in the rain, and that was really cool, trying to avoid the puddles and laughing non-stop. We also had a special first dance and got to sit (mostly) uninterrupted to share a drink and eat dinner together, which was amazing.”
So there you have it, folks! Here's evidence that it's not all about the word count for your pickup lines. Even the shortest pickup line in history, such as ‘bang?’, has the potential to lead to love. We congratulate Tahlia and Rohan on their recent marriage and wish them all the very best for their future together.
