Sage & Aaron

The term 'sliding doors' is best used to describe seemingly insignificant moments in life that change our life trajectory. Sometimes, these moments occur after the brief introduction between two people, seemingly unimportant at the time, only to prove significant later down the road when paths cross again. Then they may reflect on that short introduction and realise that it was, in fact, their very own ‘sliding door’. We are pleased to introduce Sage and Aaron, a newlywed couple who share‌ ‌‌‌ ‌‌‌ ‌their‌ ‌‌‌ ‌‌‌ ‌wedding‌ ‌‌‌ ‌‌‌ ‌story‌ ‌‌‌ ‌‌‌ ‌with‌ ‌‌‌ ‌us,‌ ‌which‌ ‌begins‌ with‌ ‌the moment their lives would change forever.

Sage begins their story from their first encounter, "I first met Aaron when I was 14, and he was 19 through some mutual ‌friends". Years later, fate would see them meet up again. "Aaron had been living on the mainland for several years but eventually returned home to Tasmania. Upon relocating home, he reached out to me asking to catch up. The rest was history, " said the Bride.

The couple happily embraced life together, and, after 7 years of love and 3 beautiful children, Aaron popped the question on Sage's birthday. "We wanted to make our union official and legally binding, as a family", said the couple.

Wasting no time, the couple dived straight into organising their big day. "We had 12 months of planning our wedding. We were very fortunate to have the help of our family and friends to make our wedding day possible", said the couple.

Sage explains their vision for the big day, "we wanted our wedding to be earthy, elegant and forest-themed. My family home was the perfect setting for our ceremony. Aaron and I cleared some forest on the property and built a deck amongst the trees", remarked the Bride.

Not everything went so straightforward with the planning. When it came to the wedding dress, Sage hit a slight setback. "After searching everywhere, locally and on the internet, I could not find my dream dress". Not to be defeated, Sage enlisted the help of her talented mother-in-law, Adelle, to make the dream dress. "Adelle was amazing. She made the entire dress by hand", explains Sage. She had a specific design in mind that, in turn, her mother-in-law brought to life. "‌Adelle created the ivory lace long sleeve wedding dress I had always dreamed of. We added a high neck for modesty, a tight fit to show off my figure and a fully open back. I finished off my look with some pearl earrings to keep with the elegance and barefoot sandals to be grounded with the earth", described the Bride.

Looking back on their special day, the couple recalls their favourite moments. Aaron starts off by describing his "when I saw Sage for the first time walking down the aisle through the trees". Sage adds with her memorable moment, "it was when we were pronounced as Mr & Mrs Newitt". Together they shared another favourite memory, "when we were taken away for our couples photos, and having that first quiet moment together".
